Head Rhino Ray’s BeLoved Miracles Overcoming Major Depressive Episode
Would you agree, we often learn more when something doesn’t work?
Ray Ciafardini’s BeLoved Miracles story is a strong one, with deep roots. The kind of roots which one develops overcoming challenges, together, or not at all.
Ray is Head Rhino at Rhino Marketing Concepts twice divorced father of 2 grown sons. He experienced 19 turns-around-the-sun in radio advertising sales, then several other sales and marketing positions in other industries. In March 2003, he woke up and slit his wrists. He didn’t know it at the time he was having a major depressive episode, leading to being diagnosed as Bipolar at 46. With the help of family, doctors and therapists, he worked his way back to working and after 5 years was laid off. After 6 months of getting nowhere looking for a traditional job, he turned to the Internet. There he found a new career as an Internet marketer.
How grateful I am and appreciative I am of his courage, his belief in himself and the belief in others he can extend because of his experience, and the richness of it, the roots to it which clearly go deep. Allowing him, and those he inspires to grow to great heights. Extending out a system of branches like a tree does in all directions which can weather any storm.

This next episode of The BeLoved Miracles Couples Project is a unique one!
Just the other day I had an opportunity to meet a gentleman by the name of Ray Ciafardini in the United States. And when I asked him if he could speak toward couples building together using a system, he said absolutely yes! Ray Ciafardini is Head Rhino at Rhino Marketing Concepts, twice divorced father of 2 grown sons. He took 19 turns-around-the-sun in radio advertising sales, then several other sales and marketing positions in other industries. In March 2003, he woke up and slit his wrists. He didn’t know it at the time that he was having a major depressive episode, leading to being diagnosed as bipolar at 46. With the help of family, doctors and therapists, he worked his way back to working and after 5 years was laid off. After 6 months of getting nowhere looking for a traditional job, he turned to the Internet. There he found a new career as an Internet marketer. Two years later he is still at it, with the same company he started with. Welcome Ray!
1:21 Ray – Hey Tim great to be here!
1:23 Timothy – Likewise! We were just sharing a bit of your story before we went on live, you have some Italian background. I was telling you your last name Ciafardini makes me think of good food.
1:35 Ray – Of course, good food and wine. And women!
1:41 Timothy – There we go, that is directed in the direction of what we are addressing today. Tell us a bit of your story, where does it begin? And what do you believe the richness of your experience, which is deep…
1:51 Ray – Oh, jeez, having been involved in some type of network marketing over the years, this goes back to 1983, 1984 when I first got introduced to business. At the time I was married and had two small children, my wife supported me at the time. In what I was doing because we were looking for a way out. Through the trials and tribulations of it we did make some money but it really never led to the big money that I wanted at the time. Because the company I was involved with was advertising on the early advance of cable TV at the time. Where they would run a show every Sunday night talking about the products, talking about the people in the company. Showing the big checks they were getting and it really made it an exciting opportunity. Getting out of that and then back into full-time radio sales, I continued on. Then a couple years later, with my second wife, I got involved with a voice over internet provider. Which was the start of a whole new industry. There she wasn’t supportive. She was totally against what I was doing. She said I should have a regular job. I fought her on that but, you know…
3:14 Timothy – What shifted? Why do you think she went from being supportive to suddenly not supportive?
3:19 Ray – No, this was the second wife.
3:22 Timothy – Ahh, got it!
3:25 Ray – This was the second marriage. So I had both sides of the coin there support and non-support. Once I had gotten done with that I got out of the radio business and got into computers. And then started getting into some other areas. Then after that divorce, I went into network marketing almost full-time with a company selling water filters and vitamins. Then the internet, websites, contact management service and then was doing direct sales for another company basically almost door-to-door and really got my feet wet with that in terms of going one-on-one with people. Even though I had done it before within a business sense in radio sales. But this was just me and the product against the world.
4:27 Ray – I did that for a while and then unfortunately I had the major depressive episode in 2003. Where unbeknownst to me it was a major depressive episode. Thank God my roommate had found me at the time. Then of course, with the help of doctors, family, Therapists and medication I made a recovery over the years in got back into the workforce. Then with the last position that I had working with the handicapped, I was a trained specialist in how to teach the blind to use computers. I was let go because the company was having a financial situation. And when you’re over 50 and you are looking for new position in the job market today it is very difficult. You don’t have somebody out there interviewing you, because they are a millennial, understanding the value of a baby boomer.
5:19 Ray – Knowing what you can bring to the table, so I turned to the Internet. The first deal I found was this great shopping site. All these things they promised and $5400 later I was looking for something else. That’s when I found my current company and got involved working with a couple who basically loved working with newbies.
5:45 Ray – I had been brought in by somebody else. But through my dealings online, through Facebook, just dealing with the company and the people involved found this one couple that were just outstanding. They were definitely both into it because they had come from an outside sales position working on cruise ships selling art as auctioneers. They took me under their wing. Through that time I got to meet various other different couples. Couples that have one of them beating the other over the head to get them out of it. Some people that have grown to love the business and others were one of them says you go do your thing and I’ll do my thing, And leaves them alone. So I have seen all angles of it in my time. From personal experience having been involved in two marriages with different people and from watching people that I deal with on a regular basis.
6:47 Timothy – That’s a rich list of experience. Any millennial who is interviewing somebody like you for a job, they are completely missing it to not tap into such experience. Now I also am going on 51 turns around the sun myself so I know exactly what you mean. At this age and stage of life we have all this experience, such a rich rich story. And yet the world as it is structured primarily today, broken obviously economically and health care systems really being sick care systems and so on and so on and so on. It’s amazing to me.
7:27 Timothy – Decades ago I remember seeing elders, where my native American blood would probably lean me more toward respecting elders then society does today. Valuing this richness of experience and story that you are sharing with us here, Thank You! Thank you for having the courage. For still having the get up and go that you have today. That we can get this message out and inspire as many other baby boomers that are still booming to…
7:57 Ray – Yeah, because the way I look at it, my whole mission is to get people out of the rat race, the 9 to 5 grind because I know what it’s like when your options are very limited. To give them more of an income stream to survive during retirement. Because retirement almost doesn’t exist anymore in this country. People are working until they drop now because they have to. Wages have been stagnant since 1979, prices continue to go up and the economy is just way out of whack. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer, and there is no middle class anymore.
8:31 Ray – I want to give that back to people. I want them to see that yes, they can do something on their own. That they can go ahead and have their own economy, passively bringing in income and being able to survive with more than just Social Security in their retirement. Getting away from having to go out and go through what I did looking for another position being a little bit older in life.
8:55 Timothy – Well said, and a system. Let’s emphasise that. Because I think that’s quite unique to what we have to share of the story. Where in that time line that you progressed through, would you identify the awareness, like the conscious awareness of applying a system?
9:15 Ray – Two years ago basically. I had other types of systems in the past with other companies but that involved talking to family and friends, and that gets old real fast. But when you find a system, especially when you’re online. Because of all the tools that are out there and the way that you can set up your business to run without you doing it all the time. Gives you all the time freedom that you want. Because you realise when you are using an autoresponder. Somebody takes a look at your website, they put in their email address and then all and a sudden they’re going to get a thank you from you. It could have a video in there. It could have an audio in there. They get to see you one-on-one. Doing hangouts like this which I do two of every week. One of them profit from your passion online and the other one on technical skills to be in this business. Are a great asset to people and have gotten me well known, I know that is how you learned of me seeing some of the stuff I do online.
10:17 Ray – Today that is the way that you have to go, the Internet is the way to go. When you can do videos on a regular basis. When you can do shows like this on a regular basis. When you can get your word out there whether it be on a blog, or videos or any other way that you can get out there. Having a system that takes care of it for you is a godsend. Because people want time freedom and they want lifestyle. They don’t want to be bogged down 9 to 5 going through the same dull routine day after day trying to get a raise from somebody. They want to be able to go out and do it on their own. And make something where they are helping other people, just like you are doing with this show.
11:03 Ray – If you are not helping people you are not going to get ahead in this business. If you have two people working together you have two brains which is better than one. You have hopefully different perspectives from your backgrounds on how to approach it. And you can actually separate the duties to get more done. Giving you the lifestyle that you want as well as the time freedom and everything else that goes along with it.
11:29 Timothy – So two years ago the system awareness kicks in for you, what changed at that point? What did being aware of and implementing a system actually begin to ripple out in your own experience and change?
11:41 Ray – It wasn’t just me anymore. It was using tools that I could multiply my efforts with. Because as you go through the system you learn how to get a hold of people. You learn how to talk to people. How to identify their dreams and aspirations and how you can help them with what you have. And with the system, it just makes it so much easier. Because in the old days you would have to go beating up people. Anybody within a 3 foot range you would talk to, trying to convince them to get into your business. But nowadays, I use Brendon Burchard’s book The Millionaire Messenger as my bible. Where he talks about how everybody has a story. And if you relate that story to other people they are going to see that you are human. That they may even have those same kinds of problems that you had and they can relate to you and that is how you build your following.
12:55 Ray – Because with a following, there is a great video online that shows this one guy dancing out of all these people. And then finally he gets one other person to join him treating him as an equal, and then other people start joining in making this whole big dance craze. This happens on the side of a mountain. The guy gets out of there who started it. It just shows, if you have one person out there talking about something, or doing something, it may seem odd and strange at the time. But then if other people join in, saying I don’t want to be left out I want to get involved, it just grows and grows and grows.
13:33 Timothy – I hadn’t thought of it until you just described it in such good detail right now. That a system has freed me up to be able to live more of my story. And to actually be able to leverage a system to be able to share more of my story. And what I love ever since I have been able to implement a system is the opportunity to plug into as we are now doing with you, Ray, to also receive others stories of inspiration.
14:01 Ray – That’s what it is all about, when you come down to it. What can you do to help other people? If you are not putting yourself out there, I know you commented about me being very brave and upfront about my story, that has a lot to do with it. Because if you are not telling your story, you are not showing people who you really are. And that is what they want today on the internet. There is a real person, it’s not some automated system. There is somebody behind it who means something to them. And that you can bond with those people. Developing your business at the same time, and teach them the exact same thing that you are doing but in their own way.
14:43 Ray – Because doing this with a system it is all individualised. So it doesn’t matter if you are a nerdy geek or you are a top executive or you are just somebody out of school, anybody can follow this. And that’s the beauty behind it. Because if it is not duplicatable, like a lot of other things haven’t been in the past, you can’t get… (interruption in the audio here)
15:09 Timothy – I love it! I am getting images as you’re speaking Ray. It’s as if we are, each of us individually, and there is no two of us alight right. Each of us uniquely, individually, are the beating heart of this system that we are implementing here. The beating heart and soul of it.
15:33 Timothy – It seems that possibly there is a hiccup in our connection. Are you still there Ray?
15:41 Timothy – Maybe Ray will dial back in here any second. If not we may have to close it at this point. I still see your picture Ray but I don’t hear you. Don’t have any audio. Okay we may have to wrap it up there for now. I am sure we will be able to touch in with Ray in the future. Ray I wish you could hear me directly but you’ll have to hear me on the recording. How grateful I am and appreciative I am of your courage, your belief in yourself and the belief in others that you have to extend because of your experience, and the richness of it, the roots to it which clearly go deep. Allowing you to grow to great heights and extend out branches like a tree in all directions and to be able to weather any storm. Because together, we overcome.
16:35 Timothy – Looks like Ray dropped so we will be signing off from here, Norway to the United States until next time The BeLoved Miracles Couples Project continues because together or not at all there is something for each of us to remember, and to implement and apply and inspire in each other toward together overcoming. Bye bye from Norway!
Until next time remember you are not alone.
