On A Mission BeLoved Miracles Couple Melissa and Rui in Portugal
At the foot of Dracula’s castle in Romania I met Rui Gabriel.
The conversation started there and continued for many hours, well into the night. There was something about this man and his unique perspective that intrigued me. I was there attending an event and he was one of the presenters. The next day he was on stage at the event sharing with us spiritual based business building strategies titled, “I Know Something That Can Help You.”
The more I spoke with Rui I came to understand that he really did know something that can help me. He shared with me his story of overcoming, implementing systems and serving missions around the world with the excess money he and his team make. Needless to say I was then, and still am today, inspired by his example. The world needs a man’s heart, and Rui Gabriel is a man extending his in a way that invites others to do the same.
So when I was offered the miraculous opportunity to visit with Rui, Melissa his wife, their four daughters and extended family I said Yes! He called it the eagles nest experience. Which is a descriptive name for the location in the hills surrounding Porto de Mos, Portugal. In this most uplifting environment, I opened my heart and spread my wings. And because the heart speaks with words the mind knows nothing of. Your heart too now has an opportunity to soar!
Spread your wings, listening with your heart, to Rui & Melissa’s uplifting story and mission…

For a long long time in my experience money was more of a wedge dividing people rather than uniting them. Meeting Rui, and then his wife Melissa. Experiencing first hand the balance and harmony in their home. A sacred space, and the right environment for weaving together a beautiful tapestry of work, home and family life. Implementing a system that works to unite, as Rui shares…
“…using systems in a different way so they can scale their efforts. So you can work less, And produce more. So I came with all these ideas in my mind and I couldn’t sleep. Around 29 January I was making around $3400 that month. It would be a month like the others. But then because I went to the event and I learned a few things. About systems and how to use them. I was able to make $7000 in seven days. So that January was the first time in my life that I made over $10,000 in one month. And I see, This thing works! I was happy! I was on the right path. In February I went to another event in the United States and I finished February with $15,000. Then in March $34000. So it took me six months to make $1000 a day. And a lot of struggle along the way. A lot of learning along the way. A lot of growth. And Melissa was holding down the fort. So I was able to put all my energy in the system and working, Understanding and making money. Bringing people and selling stuff to have commissions and then other people we’re seeing the same. Because I had created a team with 3000 people in this period. So a lot of people were sharing their stories and we started to make a big impact. All of this I had to learn really fast, like in three months. I had to grow and step into this space that was opened to me. And I was able to do that because Melissa was holding the fort.”

FULL INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPT
Timothy – We are live! Hello this is Tim Owen founder of BeLoved Miracles coming to you from Fevik, Norway and building a bridge all the way to the Eagles Nest high in the hills surrounding Porto De Mos Portugal. Welcome Rui and Melissa! It’s so good to be here with you guys.
Rui – It is very warm here you know, Portugal is very warm.:-)
Timothy – The warmth of your hearts is what we hear in Norway. We need some of that right now and others around the world too! So I look forward to how you will share that with us. Let me offer a brief introduction:
Melissa and Rui are a couple on a mission and after fighting and winning the war on personal scarcity they created a community devoted to helping people reach their full potential as human beings in every way, as they say, to be rich of everything, including money. So share with us the story of this Rui and Melissa.
Rui – Well, when I got started I had only a 45 euros in my pocket and a bank account that was way below zero. Like temperatures way below. And that was hard because we have four daughters. And we couldn’t manage to put food on the table sometimes. We had to rely on other peoples’ help and stuff. Melissa had to sometimes add water to the milk.
Melissa 1:47 – We always bought whole milk, just in case of emergencies I could dilute it. So you get very creative with a lot of things.
Rui 1:55 – How many meals did you cook with one chicken?
Melissa 2:00 – Yeah! Right now I could teach you how to get 12 meals from one chicken. That’s a skill that you pick up very quickly.
Rui 2:06 – That’s badass! So we had to go through all that to find this system. There really was no Plan B. It had to work because I had no other choice. When it comes to my life I didn’t really have to make an effort to say yes to make the system start working because I had no choice. I learned that’s the better way to start, with no Plan B.
Melissa 2:42 – Yea, we really had no plan B. We knew only what we wanted our lives to be like. To raise our children, And what values we wanted to instill in them. The best way to teach children is to show them. So it was hard because for many years we struggled to find a system that would allow us to realize what we dreamed of. And to raise our children the way we wanted to because I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom. And he had to make enough money to support a fairly large family. And still not sacrifice his quality time with the children. Not be working from 7 AM till midnight every day. Which he did for many years.
And even so we never had enough for basic needs. I’m not talking about extravagance. We were always lacking for money for basic needs. But we never really let it affect our dream. Our dream continued the same even though we kept on getting knockdown we kept getting up again. Even though people would say things like,” maybe you should rethink your plan. This is not working. It hasn’t been working. It never works, All these things that you’re trying. You should find a real job.” But we never gave up on our dream. And, “I should be home with my children. I was being irresponsible, staying home with my girls. That was very irresponsible of me.” That’s what I was hearing. Because you’re not helping your husband and you’re not giving your girls a good example. As a mother, As a woman… “Because women should really go out in the world and work. Because you want them to succeed when they are young and independent.”
So you have to deal with all these things and they’re all valid opinions. They’re just not my opinion. And it’s my opinion that counts and Rui opinion. And we were on the same page, Which was very important. We were both on the same page and we both wanted the same things.
Rui 4:48 – Yes, so when this thing came into our lives. We really had no choice, I had no choice. I was making at the time, not always, But maybe around €1000 a month. For me as a graphic designer. But not always I had months of 500, and I had months of nothing, making no money at all. It’s like that when you have your own business. And I did have some months two of making €5000 euros in one month. That happened to. So it wasn’t enough, And it was very hard. To get home and see the kids when they were already sleeping. This went on for a long time. Even on the weekends for years. So this was the circumstances that we had. So as you see no choices period.
A good friend of mine told me that with this system you could make €1000 euros a day. I didn’t believe him. That was the strange thing. Because it was so absurd, it seemed impossible. We didn’t think it was possible. We didn’t know anyone who was making so much money. Nobody. So we couldn’t ask for directions from anybody. Yet I knew that if it was possible, I would do it.
So I started to work like crazy. 16 hours a day which I used to do before so that was not a big deal for me. But this time I was on a mission. I was determined to get to €1000 a day. So I put out this plan, This 90 day plan. And started to work. Making €3500-€4000 euros in my first month. That was triple my income at the time. So I got excited! This was October and I got pretty excited! This thing is working! And then again in November I make the same amount. And then in December I made around the same amount. We were very happy.
And that Christmas was the first in many years that we managed to buy stuff for the girls and have like a normal Christmas. With less stress. And that was really cool. That was awesome.
Then at the end of three months I made in total around $13,000. And not €1000 euros a day. So I was happy, and not satisfied at all. This is not growing as fast as I want and it is definitely not growing as fast as I need. So I had to make a few choices. And that was the second part of the plan that I had to work in a different way. I didn’t have a system. I was working myself and doing things like crazy. But I really didn’t have a system to help me share the vision, share the tools. Implement some stuff together with other people. Take advantage of other people’s skills and resources (8:22). And then much later I learned all of this, But at the time I didn’t know.
And I really didn’t know anyone at that time that was making €30,000 a month. Meaning 1000 a day. So I went to Austin Texas. At the time you know, when someone doesn’t have money. All the money comes, it’s like a drop of water in hot sand. It disappears and evaporates in two seconds. We were making some money but we had so many needs. It was like nothing. Like nothing. We were blessed and we were happy, But the money was coming in and disappearing in two seconds. So I didn’t have any money to go to the United States. Make the trip and stay in a hotel in Austin Texas. I was supposed to stay there for a week for this four day event. So we had to again make these kinds of choices. Like we had before when I started with €45 in my pocket and no money in my bank account. So do we buy groceries? Or do I take this trip? We had to make these kinds of choices many times. Or pay your electric bill or get to the event. So we managed to not pay a few bills and take off. So I went to Austin. Leaving just enough for Melissa and the girls to eat. And a few bills to be paid. So here I go.
I met actually in Austin a few leaders. That we’re making much more money than I. Like 50,000, 70,000, 100,000 a month. And I met them. I was used to seeing them online, On videos like this. And they were gods to me, I thought they were TV stars or rock stars or something. They were there, they were there so it was very interesting for me to be able to meet them. And to see that they were not any different from me in anyway. When I came back I was very excited. I realized I could do this. Because they were no different from me. They didn’t know anything more than I did. But they didn’t things in a different way. They were using systems in a different way so they can scale their efforts.
11:52 And I see, This thing works! And I was able to do that because Melissa was holding the fort.
I don’t do anything around the house. She has the tools, She repairs appliances, she changes lightbulbs. She’s the plumber and electrician she does everything. She takes care of the house and makes sure that everybody is okay. Cooks like a goddess, And makes these incredible things. And really holds the family together which was able to release me from having to pay attention to this. So I was able to give myself entirely to the plan, into the business. That was awesome. Because after I reached that income goal like two or three months later I crossed the $1000 a day mark in my business. So that changed a lot for me I realized that not only had I made it. I made this thing work. I was happy and proud because of that. But because we understood that we had more money then we could spent. That was something that was completely new, a new feeling. That was interesting and we have a few stories about this.
I think that when you have your brain, your mind filled like 90% of it with debt. Or problems. And that’s the way it is for a long time for years and years and years. And suddenly you are aware that those problems aren’t there anymore, So you don’t have them, they’re solved. Once you have this awareness. You become like empty, There’s nothing there.
15:20 Melissa – There is an adjustment period.
Rui – That was one of the most interesting times. Like you know the superhero without the villain. So, like, what do I do now? What do I do now? So I didn’t know what to do.
15:36 Timothy – That is the question isn’t it, and I know you have some stories to share along those lines.
15:43 Rui – Yes one day I told Melissa to go grab the credit card and go buy everything. For everybody. You know we have these things in our head like my mom needs a new chair, A new bed because she is old and she doesn’t feel good. And her mom was talking a long time about going to Italy. And we needed a lot of stuff in the house like computers, appliances. Not looking at the price tag was very interesting. So we bought a refrigerator that cost as much as a car. And all these things because we didn’t care about the price. We just wanted to have the things. Those things were denied to us for such a long time. So I did. I told Melissa you go and buy all those things you know that we have had stuck in our throat for so many years. And she did.
16:50 Timothy – What was that like for you Melissa? The transition at that point in time?
Melissa – Like I said that was a period of adjustment for me. I was so used to living in scarcity. I remember going to the fridge and finding my meals and thinking… no I can’t use all of the peppers because then I might need a pepper for another meal. Or whatever, whatever I was looking at. So I find myself thinking wait a minute, I can just going by more. It’s not a problem anymore to make it stretch. I can just going buy more chicken, whatever. So that for me was a very important load off of my mind. Because that is one of the main concerns. Providing. It’s not providing all the luxuries, but providing all the basic needs. And when that is always being threatened it conditions you. So you always have a backup plan you know, so like if I don’t have enough here then I’ll go get it there. I was always planning ahead. Now I can just open the fridge and make whatever I want.
Go to the super market and make a special meal, whatever they ask for. It sounds really silly, it’s such a basic thing, But that was our reality at the time. We couldn’t splurge on food. I mean everybody was all fed but it was a struggle. It was a huge struggle and a main concern for us. So that for me was what made the most difference. All the other things were perks because we didn’t have a fridge, It was tiny and old but you know, we worked around that. That was not a problem. The problem was opening the fridge no matter what size it is, and there’s nothing in there! That’s a problem! So everything sort of was an awakening for me and a huge burden was lifted and I felt that I could breathe and I can sleep easy. It was very important for us and for me in that sense. And once your basic needs are taken care of then your mind starts to expand. So many people are in this situation and similar situations. We felt the need to help other people who are like-minded and in similar situations overcome their needs and find their way. Because we believe everybody should find their way. Not necessarily be forced to do things for survival purposes, for cultural purposes or because your parents think you should do it. Your spouse thinks you should do it. But because you need to do it for you for your family and this is the perfect system for that. Because you can just be yourself, Do what you need to do and be happy and prosperous while you’re doing it. Which is ideal I think.
19:46 Rui – There is always a demand for something. One time I was at the supermarket I saw a jar with rice inside. Cooked rice in a jar. I saw that there. It cost like one euro and a half or something. I was counting things in my head. It’s like a tablespoon of rice, and if I go for like a kilo of that, A kilo of that would cost like €50 a kilo or €60 an kilo. So somebody is buying the rice at €50 a kilo. So there is a market for everything. I was just thinking you know there are people everywhere with money that they will spend on anything. So that was something new for me. I realized that the things I know today are valuable for somebody else, and I’m not the only one. I started to work with team members and understanding what they already have. They don’t need anything. They already know the value that they already have. They just need a system to convert that into money and share it. So we started to set this thing up. How to transform ideas into money. We started to put the pieces together, that’s why we have the system that we all use.
It works so good that after I crossed that $1000 a day. I talked to a friend and told him I have all this extra money. That I don’t need and I want to give it for charity. And this guy he was always involved in these kinds of things. He joined the team and started his own business with us and became very prosperous. He was over the $30,000 a month mark many many times too. And with this guy we started this thing called G.A.S. a nonprofit that we started. Lots of people from the team started to make money and to put their excess money. I say excess money, but it’s just money. That they put into this system, this nonprofit foundation to go and help other people. So we have three missions in Africa where we took 23 cars and seven ambulances. We are sponsoring two organizations in Guinea. Now we are starting to help a few schools in Mozambique also. And around here in Portugal we are making stuff all the time. Like right now we are buying all the Christmas gifts for this rescue center for kids. We ask them for the list, like the center’s list. They send us the list so we know what to buy. And we are gathering money to go next weekend and buy everything for them. And this is a little like giving back, but it’s only possible because we have a system that makes enough money for us to be able to free our minds and start thinking about other people. Like other couples, Or other entrepreneurs, or other people who don’t have the same opportunities that we did. So you said it in the beginning it’s a mission, that’s our mission. So that’s why we are here. And that’s why we do what we do
23:35 Timothy – I could listen, and listen and listen. To the stories, and to the examples.
Rui – And we could talk and talk and talk like forever!:-)
Timothy – You have impacted so many and that is why I’ve asked you to share in further extending this message. I feel it deep in my heart that you guys are such a shining star example to other couples. In terms of what’s possible, going through the difficulties that you’ve gone through. Reaching deep individually, both you Melissa in the role that you played, and then Rui. And then in the shared roll bridged between the two of you as a couple, and as parents to your children and your family. There is just great hope in the world every time that I connect with you guys!
Rui 24:20 – And yesterday we went out and we got our matching tattoo rings. These are our wedding rings that are engraved in our skin. So this is no shit, No shit wedding. This is a permanent thing. And we are in it forever. Not only in our wedding, in our mission. That’s what we do and who we are.
24:57 Melissa – We have the same values, we support each other. Sometimes we support each other even if we don’t agree with each other. That’s a big thing. We support each other all the time. And sometimes we don’t agree. It’s easy to support someone you agree with, When you agree with what they’re doing. When you don’t agree with what they’re doing, Then it is a little bit harder. Unconditional love. And that is what unconditional means period. So if you love someone you have to love all of them. And sometimes they going to make mistakes and things will go wrong. And that’s fine because that’s part of the learning process. You have that right, we all do. You have to support that in your partner. As long as you both are striving for your main goal to be the same. You have the same values, then you know it’s easy. You just remember that this is part of the whole process. It’s a process. And you really grow from that process because you learn to let go of the need for control. You don’t control things, Most things. And you certainly don’t control your partner. All you can do is work together and support each other in every circumstance period
26:16 Timothy – You are reading my mind, because that was the next question I was going to ask you. As we wrap this up, what advice would you give other couples building something together? Is there any more in addition to what you just said, That you would add to that as advice?
26:30 Rui – Yeah I think people sometimes they don’t work well together, especially couples but because they are working with each other all the time. When you start looking toward a person all the time you see everything. Because we are humans we tend to focus on the negative. So when people are together, Especially couples, working together they tend to start to see the bad things. And they begin to see them bigger. My advice is stop looking at each other, And start looking together in the same direction. Doing this you will see that there are flaws, but because you are looking in the same direction you will tend to see more of the good stuff.
27:31 Melissa – And expectations of the other. Like you expect your partner to do so-and-so. You shouldn’t expect anything from anybody. You should just encourage what they’re doing, support them in what they’re doing well, because they’re doing it. If both of you do that all the time then there is no problem. Really. You know like, oh, he was supposed to send that email. He didn’t send that email and now I’m mad at him. Go out, write the email, and tell him,”You know I wrote that email for you.” And he’ll say, “you know that’s great, thanks a lot!” So when you forget to do something, or fail at something. Then he’ll have that attitude as well because that’s what you did. We learn from imitation right. So if you just lose the expectations, and the judgment then it’s a lot easier. Yeah, lose the judgment. Judgment is not a good thing. And don’t forget to have fun together, That’s really important. When you work together all the time, You have got to get out of the work mode and into the fun mode. We do that a lot!
28:26 Rui – Yes, Even though we don’t actually work together. Because she does one thing and I do another thing we are not together working, but we are together all day. So we see each other like every 15 or 30 minutes or something. So last week we decided to go to movies. Let’s go to the movies. We go often to the movies and we like that VIP movie experience that you already know too from having joined us Timothy. So we decided to go to the movies and we were choosing the movie. And Melissa was saying oh I like that one, and also this one, and also that one. And I was saying well, We have to choose. And suddenly I realized, we don’t have to choose. We can see them all. So we managed to start at 2 PM in the afternoon and finished by midnight. And we went and saw four different movies. It was the movie marathon. And then we started to be known at the place as “the movie marathon guys.” 🙂 Because we did it twice already, Because it was fun! And you know we were there on a Thursday afternoon because I make my own hours. I don’t have a boss. And we can decide these stupid things like this and have fun together. Doing these things like getting matching tattoos.
29:52 Melissa – But you have to plan these things so you don’t get sucked into the working, in order to make plans. For your family so you can start new traditions, It’s important to be mindful of this. Because the focus can slip away from you very very quickly.
30:11 Rui – Yes the focus slips very quickly into work. I know because I’ve done that for years. 16 to 18 hours a day not seeing my kids ever. That sucks. No good. So this is our advice.
30:30 Timothy – If people want to touch in with you, especially with regard to the mission work that you’re doing what would you suggest is the best way to connect with you?
30:38 Rui – If you go online you can connect with me if you write Rui Gabriel on Google. Well I am there. The first few pages are all about me because there are not a lot of people with my name. So it’s a name very easy to remember. And about the charity work and nonprofit if you connect with me through that or RuiGabriel (dot) com or even on Facebook if you search for Rui Gabriel you will find me. And I can direct you in the proper direction.
31:19 Timothy – Thank you Melissa, Thank You Rui. You are such shining star examples. I’ve said it two or three times but that is truly the magnitude of how I experience you. You are a light, to the world. Anyone tuning in And listening to this I’m sure can hear it as clearly as I am. It leaves me almost speechless listening to you. What you’ve come through, Really what you have overcome and now what you are as an example to others. Which is what I am hoping what we are sharing here will do. It will be an example to others of what they can overcome. Because as I like to say. Together, We Overcome.
31:57 Melissa & Rui – Yes very important. It’s together, You can’t do anything on your own. Well you can but if you really want to make a difference in your life you have to do things together. You start off as a couple, and then branch out.
32:07 Timothy – And we have a system, As you have exemplified, that allows each of us to do just that. That system I have to throw in is what brought us together. I would never probably have crossed paths with you guys until implementing this system, which you are implementing, which brought us. together.
32:27 Rui – Yes we are living in very exciting times. Very exciting times. Brand-new stuff coming up, New people with new ideas all the time. People that used to thinking the old way now thinking in the new way. They realize they can be their own bosses, Steer their own life where they want. And as people are aware of this they start to look out for systems and for people to be able to help them. And that’s everything. That’s who you are. That’s who we are. That’s what our mission is.
33:13 Timothy – Yes, Thank you! And I look forward to touching in with you again to learn more of the adventures that you will be on. Until next time goodbye from Norway! Because together we really really do overcome.
